Honda to recall 57,853 City sedans in India
Japanese Car major Honda yesterday announced that it was about to initiate one of the biggest car recalls in India. A strategic move which Honda had never attempted before in India. The recall of the Honda City Cars which were manufactured between November 2008 to December 2009 would only be recalled. Honda earlier in January last year had recalled the City sedan to replace the defective power window switch which the company said would literally cause fire.
“Honda however assured that they would individually call all the owners of the Cars at their workshops on a decided date and would would carry out the replacement of the faulty part which is the ‘lost motion spring’ in the Valve train. The defective part, Lost Motion Spring, which is compressed by rocker arms during normal running of the engine, may either bend or break over time resulting in abnormal engine noise. It is also been known to potentially causing engine stalling problems during restarts.” Honda said, adding the replacement would be carried out free of cost. Honda dealerships across the country have been dispatched the new spare parts and also have been updated about the replacement.
