After the astounding success which Renault had the previous season in 2010 and this season in 2011 at the Formula 1 Grand Prix which saw Red Bull take away both the Constructors Championship and the Drivers Championship. May a people here in India might not be knowing that the Fastest Supercars from Red Bull driven by Sebestian Vettel and Mark Webber were powered by Renault.
Yes the same Renault which is currently being sold here in India too, as the Renault Logan and now Renault with their newest offering are here to launch The PULSE after rivals like Hyundai, Toyota, Suzuki and Honda launching their small cars. Renault has developed an all new platform solely for India as the company tries to push sales in one of the world’s high-potential market. Renault in India currently sells the Fluence sedan and Koleos sport-utility vehicle and plans to introduce another SUV, The Duster, by mid-2012.
The Pulse comes equipped with keyless entry and start, a digital climate control system, power steering, power windows all round and electric ORVMs. It will also be provided with a stereo that will play most formats and hopefully will also get Bluetooth and controls for the stereo on the steering. We say hopefully, because the Pulse engines with the Nissan. Needless to say, the Pulse too will come with two engines – the petrol will be a 1.2-litre three-cylinder 76bhp unit while the diesel will be four-cylinder 64bhp 1.5-litre motor.
The Pulse however will be the third car from the company and will be launched around January 2012. We expect the Pulse to be launched at a price from Rs 4.5 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi, for the base version when it goes on sale two months from now in January at the Auto Expo to Rs. 6.5 lakh for the high end version of the car. Although the Micra has not been able to make any major impact here in the Indian Market, the Pulse would have to be seen how it scores on price and features after the latest block bluster launch from Hyundai - the Eon.
