  • Fiat to End its Distribution Tie-up with Tatas, To go Solo in India.

Italian car major Fiat has decided to part ways with its joint venture partner Tata Motors. As the sales of Fiat Motors has been stagnating, Fiat is to set up a separate entity for all commercial and service-related activities, Mr. Enrico Anatasio, senior vice-president, commercial, Fiat India said. The new distribution agreement to distribute powertrains to Maruti, Tata and its own Fiat will however continue.  In its five years of operations, the industrial JV has produced more than 190,000 cars and 337,000 powertrains.
Fiat has already announced that it will set up independent dealerships across 20 locations in the country and it has already opened a boutique showroom in New Delhi. The company has begun the process of appointing dealers, said the spokesperson. The development of the new Fiat dealer network will start progressively and the 178 existing Fiat-franchised Tata dealers in 129 cities will be encouraged to become a part of the new network.
